Who we are

StoriedTide covers the Indian Ocean with depth

StoriedTide is the editorial arm of the TideRoam Network — an independent travel media company covering Rodrigues Island, Mauritius and Réunion. We write the pieces that take longer to read than a planning guide needs to be. The conservation work at François Leguat. The real food culture of Port Louis. The music that makes Rodrigues itself. The things that help you understand a place rather than just navigate it.

We don't take press trips. We don't accept payment for coverage. We don't write content to satisfy a tourism board's preferred narrative. The editorial is independent — funded by affiliate commissions on TideRoam.com, which is disclosed plainly on every page that contains them.

The TideRoam side of the network handles the practical planning and booking tools. StoriedTide handles the writing. Both point readers toward each other because the two things genuinely belong together.

How we work

Editorial standards

We only write about places we have genuine knowledge ofThrough personal visits, verified local correspondent sources or documented reader experience. No thin SEO content written without research.
Affiliate relationships are disclosed clearlyNot buried in a footer or behind a generic disclaimer. Disclosed at the point of relevance — on the page, near the link.
No press trips, paid placements or sponsored contentNo operator or tourism board pays to appear in our editorial. Recommendations reflect our actual assessment, nothing else.
Corrections are made publicly and promptlyIf something is wrong we fix it and note the correction at the top of the article. Quietly editing errors without acknowledging them is not something we do.
We give negative assessments when they're warrantedIf a guesthouse is overpriced, a restaurant isn't worth it or a season is genuinely difficult, we say so. Our value to readers depends on it.
How it's funded

The funding model, explained plainly

StoriedTide earns money through affiliate commissions on TideRoam.com. When a reader books a hotel, flight or activity through a link on TideRoam, we receive a small commission from the booking platform — typically 3–8% depending on the category. The reader pays the same price they'd pay booking directly.

The affiliate relationships are with established travel platforms — Booking.com, Skyscanner, GetYourGuide, Viator and similar. We don't have direct commercial relationships with individual hotels, operators or tour companies. We can't be paid by a business to appear in our editorial recommendations.

What this means in practice

Affiliate income covers running costs and editorial time. It doesn't determine what we recommend. We recommend what we actually think is best for the reader's specific situation — which sometimes means recommending something that earns us less commission, or nothing at all.

What we don't do

Press trips. Sponsored content. Paid placements. "Content partnerships" that involve payment for editorial coverage. Advertorials.

We'd rather be smaller and trusted than larger and compromised.
